Look at the past 7 days of earthquakes around the pacific ring of fire: 1/16/2012 through 1/23/2012:

Now.. compare the last 7 days of earthquakes in North America to the diagram of the north American Craton (called Laurentia) alongside the plate diagram of the pacific ring of fire.

In the above three pictures put together.. you can see the “edge” of the north american craton is showing movement — and the “edges” of the plates themselves in a real state of flux — on the eastern side of the pacific ring of fire.. a particular point that stands out is Central America — central/south Mexico.

These earthquakes (along the plate boundaries and craton edge) will continue to increase into the foreseeable future — as long as the pacific plate continues its “new” state of unrest.
